About Brian--Creator of Grasky Endurance Coaching

As an athlete, I’m an elite amateur triathlete and pro mountain bike racer.  I have raced everything in multisport from Ironman to XTERRA to Olympic distance.  I've been blessed to have had a great sport career so far:  I've stood on the podium in Kona, have been to the Best of the US Championship, and have been a member of both Team USA and the Air Force Triathlon Team.  My first triathlon was in 1992, and I've completed over 100 multisport events.  I've been coaching since 2002. 

However, in May 2007, while in the lead pack in a national mountain bike points series race, I took a spill, severely breaking my leg.  When I rolled to a stop with my knee pointing north and my toes pointing south.  Even in my limited military medical training I knew this is bad.  My racing has been limited since the accident the subsequent complications with infection and recovery, but lying on the couch with my leg in traction was where Grasky Endurance Coaching was born!

As a coach, I take more joy in seeing my athletes meet their goals than my own.  I am a USAT Level II certified coach, and coach athletes privately through written training plans and one-on-one work with technique and form.  My athletes have gone on to World, National, and State Championships in duathlon, triathlon, Ironman, XTERRA, and mountain biking.  I'm also the head coach of both the University of Arizona TriCats, dedicated to furthering the sport at the collegiate level, and of the Grasky Endurance Afterburner Training Team.  My coaching and professional team includes my wife Jill Grasky, a former pro cyclist, personal trainer, and real estate agent; Coach Bill Daniell, an Exercise Scientist who coaches at the intermediate and advanced level; Coach Brian Nath who focuses on beginner and intermediate triathletes and works with our Afterburner training Team and events; and Brandon Nichols, top triathlete and certified sports dietitian.

As a person, I am a Christian first--I owe all my success to The Lord. I have a great life with Jill—we enjoy traveling, hiking, rock climbing, and of course, cycling together.  For my real job I am a Major and an F-16 Instructor Pilot in the Arizona Air National Guard—a great job...it beats working for a living.  I graduated from the US Air Force Academy and spent 9 years active duty including three years in Japan before transferring into the Air National Guard and settling in Tucson.  I've been instructing in F-16s for over 9 years.

I built GEC to provide a team of experts to get you, the athlete, to reach your goals effectively and in style.  We provide almost anything you will need to reach your goals.  Where we don’t provide, we help you to find the right people (chiropractic, medical, massage, etc).  My coaches are proven athletes and expert coaches.  In addition to being certified by USAT, each coach goes through a curriculum and testing process that I head up, so they each meet the requisite knowledge and skill level to be a GEC coach.  I have screened the coaches personally so that I can comfortably say that you are getting a top-level coach with anyone at GEC.
